iWave Systems announces the launch of Qseven SOM based on the NXP i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus applications processor

iWave Systems launches a new Qseven SOM based on the powerful i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus applications processor from NXP® Semiconductors. The i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus SoC integrates heterogeneous multicore 64-bit Arm® Cortex®-A72, Cortex-A53 & Dual Cortex-M4F Cores with an array of features like Dual GPU systems, 4K H.265 capable VPU targeted for applications that demand advanced real-time processing, multi-media performance as well as in applications that require simultaneous multi-OS operations.

Built with advanced media processing and innovative vision processing, the NXP i.MX 8 family of application processors aim to revolutionize multiple display automotive applications, vision, HMI, and industrial systems. The Qseven SOM is rich with i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus features along with LPDDR4, eMMC, Dual Ethernet PHY, USB3.0 Hub, Wi-Fi, and BT module in a standard 70mm x 70mm Qseven form factor.

i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus Qseven SOM Highlights:

• i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus microprocessor with 64-bit Arm®v8 Architecture
• Up to 8GB LPDDR4 and 256GB eMMC
• Multi-OS Platform Support
• 15+ years of Product Longevity
• IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi & Bluetooth 5.0
• Qseven v2.1 Compatible SOM

The Qseven is a versatile small form factor computer Module definition, targeting applications that require low power, low costs, and high performance. The Modules are used as building blocks for portable and stationary embedded systems. The core CPU and support circuits, including DRAM, boot flash, power sequencing, CPU power supplies, GBE, dual-channel LVDS/MIPI display transmitter are concentrated on the Module. The Modules are used with application-specific Carrier Boards that implement other features such as audio CODECs, wireless devices, etc. The modular approach allows scalability, fast time to market, and upgradability while still maintaining low costs, low power, and small physical size.

The i.MX 8 QuadMax/QuadPlus Qseven System on Module is aimed to offer maximum performance with higher efficiency for complex embedded consumer, healthcare, and industrial applications. Advanced use cases include Intelligent Industrial Control Systems, Industrial Human-Machine interface, Ultraportable Devices, Home Energy Management Systems, 4k Digital Signage, Media streaming, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Home Automation and Entertainment, Drones, Secure POS and Video and analytics.

The highly-scalable i.MX 8QuadMax architecture allows maximum functionality, enabling developers and OEMs to quickly prototype and bring products to market swiftly at reduced cost and production time.
