Power and cost-optimized System on Module based on NXP i.MX 8M Nano SoC

iWave Systems, a leader in embedded systems and solutions, is launching a new System on Module based on NXP® Semiconductor’s i.MX 8M Nano SoC. The new SOM features a powerful combination of 4 x Arm Cortex®-A53 up to 1.5GHz and 1 x Arm® Cortex®-M7 core up to 750 MHz. The SoC, coupled with other advanced features such as flexible LPDDR4 and eMMC memory, sophisticated audio, graphics, high-speed connectivity, and a rich set of I/O interfaces, makes it ideal for a wide range of embedded applications. The SOM delivers high performance, low power, and cost-effective solutions for applications in Industrial IoT, Edge Computing, Streaming Audio Devices, Industrial HMI, Home, and Building Automation, etc.

iWave i.MX 8M Nano -based SOM

The i.MX 8M Nano-based SOM is optimized for low power operations and provides a high level of performance and reliability in applications that require advanced graphics and high-fidelity audio experience. The SOM can easily connect to the network with the help of high-speed interfaces such as USB, Gigabit Ethernet, MIPI-DSI, MIPI-CSI, and on-board Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac + BLE v5.0.

Each core of i.MX 8M Nano SoC consists of 32 KB L1 Instruction Cache, 32 KB L1 Data Cache, Media Processing Engine (MPU), and Floating Point Unit (FPU). The Arm® Cortex®-M7 microcontroller operates in low power standby mode, independent of the main processor, and is proficient in handling real-time system monitoring.

iWave is committed to delivering high-quality modules that will help our customers build products much quicker and with ease. It is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with NXP, and we are excited to launch the new i.MX 8M Nano based SOMs for cost-effective, high-performance IIoT and edge applications,” said Abdullah Khan, President, iWave Systems Technologies, India.

The i.MX 8M Nano is designed to revolutionize edge computing by combining high performance compute, rich graphics, and power efficiency and delivering this at a value price point to our customers to enable its adoption in a wide range of markets including industrial,” said Amanda McGregor senior product manager for the i.MX 8M Nano. To ensure the full potential of the i.MX 8M Nano is realized, NXP works closely with key module partners such as iWave Technologies that have a  track record of not only designing high effective modules but have the capability to get a wide range of customers to market in a time-effective manner.
