Google’s android runs on iWave’s iW-RainboW-G3 (i.MX27 based platform)

Bangalore – Dec 1, 2008 – iWave Systems (www.iwavesystems.com) has installed the mobile software stack Android from Google on its i.MX27 CPU based iW-RainboW-G3 platform. The currently available Android versions in iW-RainboW-G3 are android-m3-rc20 and android-m5-rc14.

'Android' is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux kernel, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. Android relies on Linux version 2.6 for core system services such as security, memory management, process management, network stack, and driver model. The kernel also acts as an abstraction layer between the hardware and the rest of the software stack.

iWave is coming out with the Android version 1.0 (fully open source) in early 2009.
