DLNA, Thinclient, Navigation
A Mobile Internet Device (MID) is a multimedia-capable handheld computer providing wireless Internet access. They are designed to provide entertainment, information and location-based services for personal use. MIDs are larger than smartphones but smaller than the Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC). They are an easy way to stay in contact with others wirelessly.
iW-MID design is based on iW-RainboW-G3 (iMX27) and has the following main features.

As DLNA:
iW-Rainbow-G3 with Windows CE 6.0 integrates a third-party DLNA. It features a 3-box protocol with a DLNA Controller (DMC), DLNA Renderer (DMR) and DLNA Server (DMS). It can run in combo device modes such as DMC+DMR or DMC+DMS. The G3 with DLNA can communicate with any remote DLNA devices in a network through WiFi or Ethernet connectivity and play the files locally or on a remote DMR. The DMC on G3 supports Content Directory Service and AVTransport Services (stop, pause, play). |
As ThinClient:
iW-Rainbow-G3 with ThinClient design uses Ethernet as well as iWave’s SDIO WiFi module with 802.11(b/g/a) to connect the RDP client with the server. This module supports Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 OS with Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol Version 6.0 and is targeted for applications like Kiosk, Point Of Sale (POS), CRM, Banking Terminals, Healthcare Management, Classroom PCs, Office Terminal, Stock management/control and so on. |

As Navigation Device:
iW-RainboW-G3 with integrated iWave GPS module is a portable satellite navigation system for use in automobiles. It typically uses a GPS navigation device to acquire position data to locate the user on a road in the unit's map database. Using the road database, the unit can give directions to other locations along roads. With WinCE or any similar OS loaded, it doubles as PDA.
