The SDMA controller in the i.MX6 is a simple RISC processor core, with its private memory space and some specialized functional units. The SDMA controller is responsible to perform data transfer inside a multi-core platform. It works side-by-side with the main ARM processor, detached from it. Special registers in the ARM processor controls the SDMA’s sub system, and special commands on the SDMA’s controller allow it to access the ARM processor’s memory space and send interrupts.
i.MX6QP, i.MX6DP is a high performance applications processors with multiple ARM Cortex-A9 cores and advanced 3D graphics and multimedia features. iWave Systems launched two additional SOMs based on i.MX 6QuadPlus (iMX6QP) and i.MX 6DualPlus (iMX6DP) adding to the existing i.MX6 SOM portfolio.

At Freescale Technology Forum (FTF America), iWave's new i.MX6UL SODIMM SOM (iW-RainboW-G18M-SODIMM) was unveiled. The i.MX 6UltraLite (i.MX6UL) SoC is latest low-power, Cortex A7 based SoC by Freescale aimed at very low powercost optimized applications.
iWave updating the Linux BSP for its i.MX6 Q7 modules and development kit with 3.14.28 kernel. This release will be available from mid of August 2015 for customers and it will support single BSP, Binary image & MFG tool for all the four i.MX6 CPU version (Quad/Dual/Dual Lite/Solo) based Qseven SOMs.

Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7) BSP by iWave Systems for Freescale’s SABRE SDP/B platform now supports power management. Power management was successfully developed for the i.MX6 multicore platform and tested for the standard suspend and resume functionalities. During sleep the processor enters into dormant mode and consumes the least power. iWave has reduced the sleep mode power consumption with Windows Embedded Compact 7 BSP to very less level compare to Linux and Android BSPs. i.MX6Q has four CPU cores. The suspend power state not only turns off 3 CPU cores, but also puts the primary CPU on low power mode. On resuming, all 4 cores restart successfully. Read more

iWave is the first in the world to design and successfully test the AC’97 Audio functionality in Freescale's i.MX6 CPU. iWave's core Linux BSP team has broken the boundaries & implemented the AC’97 Audio interface on Linux BSP and successfully tested AC’97 Audio In/Out on iWave’s i.MX6 Qseven Development platform called RainboW-G15-Q7D. Since Qseven specification 1.2 strictly requires AC’97 interface for audio interface, AC’97 Audio availability for i.MX6 CPU is the new milestone achieved by iWave in ARM Qseven arena.
