i.MX6 Ultra Lite SOM for IoT Gateway Applications

The i.MX6UL SODIMM module is integrated for industrial IoT (IIoT) gateway application to enable seamless interconnection of infrastructure devices with secure data flow from end devices to cloud. This gateway platform ensures data generated by devices and systems can reach securely and safely from the edge to the cloud and return without replacement of existing infrastructure. The below diagram shows the i.MX6UL SOM usage for the IIoT gateway application.
An IoT gateway specific base board was developed for iWave’s i.MX6UL SOM module which supports communication to server and cloud through wired and wireless technologies such as 2G/3G, WiFi, Ethernet, BT and LoRa. The board also supports several serial interfaces such as Modbus, CAN, serial to interface with sensor, control devices and end points.
The gatway is implemented with OSGi standard based modular software architecture and supports MQTT, CoAP, REST protocols for cloud ready. This industrial IoT gateway finds several application including but not limited to Smart energy, M2M, Smart home, Industrial automation and smart agriculture.
iWave’s IMX6UL SOM module is equipped with 256MB of DDR3 RAM, which is expandable up to 1GB. 256MB of NAND flash is supported on the SOM which is also expandable to 8GB. All the IO peripheral interfaces supported by imx6 ultra lite CPU is available through 200 pin SODIMM edge connector.
