Heat Spreaders for iWave SOM Modules

iWave offers several heat spreaders for the Qseven and MXM form factor System On Modules in the recent past.

The 70mmx63mm sized heat spreader for iWave’s Qseven modules are made up of Aluminium material and uses silicone elastomer as thermal gap pad between the CPU and the heat spreader. The heat spreader is light weight and rugged which can be easily attached with the iWave’s Qseven system on modules.

The 85mmx70mm sized heat spreader for iWave’s MXM modules are made up of Aluminium material and uses silicone elastomer as thermal gap pad between the CPU and the heat spreader. The heat spreader is light weight and rugged which can be easily attached with the iWave’s MXM system on modules.

The Qseven and MXM SOM heat spreaders effectively transfer the heat from the CPU junction to the ambient. When these heat spreaders used in end products together with iWave SOMs, the overall temperature reduction of the device depends up on several factors like enclosure type, airflow etc. When tested with iWave Rainbow development boards the usage of heat sink reduces CPU junction approximately 6 to 7°C.
