iWave unveils India’s first In-car PC

Bangalore 22nd July’09 : India’s first personal computing device for cars is here.  The iW-Car PC comes from Bangalore-based embedded intelligence leader iWave – and combines in-vehicle entertainment – music, movies and games – for back seat occupants, with full fledged PC functionality running any contemporary flavor of Windows (XP/CE 6.0/Vista/7beta).

With a full color 7 inch LED back light display, with touch controls, the iW-Car PC, is powered by a low power 1.1/1.6GZ Intel Atom processor, and comes with 1 GB DDR2 memory and 16 GB of SSD storage, expandable to 64 GB.

Two USB 2.0 ports enable users to plug in broadband wireless internet dongles (currently available in India from Tata, Reliance, Airtel, Idea etc) for full web browsing and Internet functionality.

The display is built into a standard headrest and fully ruggedized for vehicular operation in cars and buses.  Leading cab companies are currently evaluating the iW-CarPC through it’s  paces and plan on harnessing the system to offer free entertainment during long city commutes, backed by advertising and Net access as a core value addition to their services.
