iWave ARINC818-2 IP Success and its Evaluation for FPGA Development Boards

iWave offers ARINC818 FPGA IP core that is compatible with ARINC 818-2 specification. ARINC 818 protocol developed for high bandwidth, low latency, uncompressed digital video transmission in mission-critical avionics applications. iWave has developed ARINC 818-2 IP from scratch and is readily available to use in system. It is evaluated successfully on various hardware platform as well as ARINC 818 protocol analyzer for various resolution and frame rates as shown in figure below-

The ARINC 818-2 Transmitter transmits the ADVB frames to Development board via Optical link. iWave ARINC 818-2 IP decodes the received ADVB frame and store the received video payload in frame buffer with the help of VDMA. VDMA reads the video payload from the frame buffer and sends to iWave ARINC 818-2 IP. iWave ARINC 818-2 IP forms the ADVB frame and sends to ARINC 818-2 analyzer. ARINC 818-2 analyzer validates received ADVB frame for frame header , CRC check, Disparity error check, container header etc.

Streaming Interface feature of ARINC818-2 IP made easy to integrate this with available FPGA specific streaming IP and use it for different video application. There is flexibility to modify the IP as per customer provided ICD (Interface Control document, which defines key parameters like link speed, video resolution, colour format, ancillary data detail and timing details). iWave will modify the IP as per ICD and provide evaluation reference designs for any development kit with SFP, and Video Input and output ports in short period.
